Golden visa and investor visas in Indonesia: what Immigration says.

Written by Nacho Jorrín, partner at Agmakina Group, building and managing villas in Uluwatu since 2019 · Reviewed 7 October 2026

There is a lot of confusion about visas because every page says something different. Here is only what the Directorate General of Immigration publishes.

The short answer

Indonesia offers a 5 or 10-year golden visa in five categories, including individual investor (from USD 350,000 in government bonds, listed shares or deposits) and Second Home. Buying a leasehold villa does not grant a visa by itself.

The five categories

According to Immigration (imigrasi.go.id), the golden visa has five categories: individual investor, corporate investor, Second Home, Global Talent and World Figure. It is granted for five or ten years and can be extended.

Second Home Visa

It is the category for people who want to reside without working. According to the Directorate General of Immigration (imigrasi.go.id), you need proof of funds of at least IDR 2 billion in a bank account, or ownership of a property in Indonesia, plus a passport valid for 36 months. Family members applying with the main holder do not need that proof of funds. You apply at molina.imigrasi.go.id. Confirm the current requirements on the official site before planning anything.

Buying a leasehold villa does not grant a visa by itself. The investor visa runs on another track: the financial investment or the company, depending on the category. And the PT PMA route has its own requirements: PT PMA for the villa investor.

What to do with this

  • Decide first whether you want to live in Indonesia or just invest. To invest in a villa in Bali you do not need to live there.
  • If you want residency, check the official site for the category that fits you.
  • Be wary of anyone who guarantees a visa as part of buying a villa.

To buy, can a foreigner buy property in Indonesia?.

General information, not immigration advice. Visa requirements change often: confirm at imigrasi.go.id or with an authorised agent.
